An image posted recently on the Renaultsport Facebook page features the cryptic phrase ‘Under8’ in the form of a social media hashtag, which is associated with the caption “two months to go.” Renaultsport has now also added a picture in the Akrapovic exhaust system it is going to fit to its record-breaking Megane.

It hints with a possible attempt to break the Nurburgring lap record for the front-wheel drive road-legal production car, currently held from the 2014 SEAT Leon Cupra 280.
If it intends to regain the title it originally secured in 2008 together with the Megane R26.R and after that reset this year with the Megane RS Trophy, the French manufacturer will have to beat the SEAT’s impressive time period of 7 minutes 58.4 seconds.
Once again and could go on sale later this current year Renaultsport is keeping quiet on the new model it’ll use with this latest attempt – expected to take place in mid-June – but it’s likely to be in accordance with the Megane.
The teaser seen here suggests the car will make use of Michelin tyres, an Akrapovic exhaust set up, boasting suspension from Swedish-based Ohlins.
